Yes. I heard Doug Gresham speak off the cuff, and then the following day we saw a recorded interview [because the poor man couldn't attend as the main speaker, due to food poisoning!] in which he gave some of the same material, so I think he has basically got some standard answers to the usual questions!

Monica, I could send you my [slightly limited] notes of the main speakers, if you like... just PM.

He would very likely be saddened but not too surprised at the knowledge level of the typical MA/MS grad (about 25 yrs old). I don't think he would be as surprised at all at the ed level of average high school grad Joe, so much - he wrote about it in both Abolition of Man and the Screwtape Letters.

To respond to Jo's comment on the 60's, I would recommend the reading of a similar thinker, (Fr) Alexander Schmemann, Between Utopia and Escape.
[/url], written about an orthodox viewpoint on the 60's and 70's. I think Lewis would have wholeheartedly shared Schmemann's view. (warning - the stuff is not soundbite)

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

Hi everybody,
I am new around here. But the variety on CS Lewis blows my mind:) Thank you for having such an awesome site.
To answer the question if Lewis were alive.
I would take him out, pack a picnic, find a mountain top with a view, and talk to him... with a mindset of 'futher up and further in'. I would just dive and swim in all his wisdom and imagination. :pleased:

Further up and Further in:)

Check this out -- The Problem of Pain new book cover. Does anyone know if that's Lewis himself (swimming)?
... and their joy was like swords, and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness.

I've always wondered if it isn't him on the cover. But I can't say.
