…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

Member of the 2456317 club. I got yelled at for explaining what this was, so if you want to know I guess you'll have to ask.

I voted for the first one. They are all portrayed well.
Without my friends or cousins, I don't make sense. Life would be somewhere not worth my time.

Knowing about his life, I was actually surprised about Lewis' female characters. This might sound very silly  ... by the time I read THS, no female character in any book I'd read so far had managed to inspire and touch me as much as Jane. I have to admit I was only 16 then, but still it made me think that Lewis actually did a good job of portraying female characters.
