Definately. One of his best. I learnt a lot about myself from that book.

davidjunior,

If you have read and liked any of CS Lewis other books you will like this. Even if you havent read Lewis yet (but Im guessing you probably have) give it a shot.

It's clever, witty, well-written, insightful, convicting...well yeah just go read it.

It certainly makes you think. I agree with the others - in their support of it.

A year and a half ago, I led a book study on The Screwtape Letters, and it was one of the liveliest classes our church has offered (and one of the best attended). This most definitely a GREAT book!!!

Anyone who likes audio books should try the audio version of The Screwtape Letters, it's read by none other than John Cleese. The bit where Uncle Screwtape turns into a millipede is a howl as he reads it.

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle

...I actually enjoyed it immensely, though I think it took about six times or so to really understand it. ...am I a freak or something? Ah, well.

I'd recommend it to anyone who has a will to understand it... where there's a will, there's a way.

Oh, goodness! The Screwtape Letters is an incredible book, highly recommended! It's engaging, informative, thought-provoking, and highly entertaining! The writing is delightful (as is all of C. S. Lewis' writing) especially the character development of "Uncle Screwtape" which you see unfold as his letters progress. A lot can be learned from this book, especially for a Christian.

And speaking of Screwtape's letters, someone wrote a very, very good critique of the Da Vinci Code, in the form of Uncle Screwtape condoning it to Wormwood! It's very well written, and skillfully reveals the alluring, yet false claims of Brown's book. You can go to to hear the audio (the man who reads it is, in my opinion, the perfect Screwtape), and to to read the text.

By all means, read The Screwtape Letters!
