Well, in England, the wigwam is the tent with a pointy top and the stick sticking out - at least it was when I was growing up. So it is not surprising to find that English illustrators drew it like that.

According to the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, a teepee is a pointed tent made of skins, cloth, or canvas, while a wigwam is dome-shaped and covered with birch bark.
