C.S.Lewis and the Catholic Church, by Joseph Pearce

The man. The myth.

Postby Stanley Anderson » February 27th, 2007, 3:57 pm

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

Just to back you up a little Stanley, it never hurts to clarify that if we do not honor (not = worship) the one who gave birth to the Creator of the Universe, we are pulling one of the legs out from under our own faith in His Godhood. The honor to Mary insists on Christ being God and makes it awful hard to say that He was just an awesome man.

Thank you for the reading suggestions, Stanley and Bnayqyama. Any other books you know of that would help an Evangelical Protestant better understand the distinctives of contemporary Catholicism would be appreciated.

here is Frederica Mathewes-Green's about-to-be-released book about Mary:

I also found this list of "Eastern Orthodox Books for Western Readers", but I haven't had a good look at it yet.

How would telling people to be nice to one another get a man crucified? What government would execute Mister Rogers or Captain Kangaroo?
