And a plug for the previously mentioned quote service: he didn't provide the particular quote I had in mind but he came up with several others which were similar and IMO went way beyond the call of duty. It's cool someone is doing what he's doing...

In fact the sentiment, of not the exact words, goes back a lot further, to the assertion that the best qualification for becoming a bishop was "nolo episcopari" - see St. Ambrose among others.
