…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

Still, aren't some atheists so obsessed with God or the lack thereof that it seems like their lives are as much or more taken up with Him than a lot of religious people? I, at least, find it amusing. Maybe we need a word for that, like antireligious.

(Of course I realize not all atheists [or agnostics for that matter] are like that. Hence the word "some.")

I always loved the quote where Lewis describes atheists like himself (before he was a Christian of course) saying, "I maintained that God did not exist. I was also very angry with God for not existing."
