Besides Christianity, what were some religions inwhich CS Lewis was fascinated in?

paganism, certain forms of eastern mysticism, atheism. i think that pretty much sums it up, though i'm not the expert i'd like to be.

Yeah, I don't think a religion necessarily has to have god(s), and for my money atheists sure seem to be zealous in the same patterns as "religious" people. Somebody like Dawkins is more religious than most people, if you ask me. ;)
