Doesn't he use the example of that lady ("I *only* want. . .") in Four Loves? I believe she also is mentioned by George MacDonald in The Great Divorce. I don't think either of those are in the context of materialism, however.

I thought the "I only want..." woman was the patient's mother in The Screwtape Letters. She wanted things done just so, and she only desired a tiny bit of this or that. She would send plates back if they were too full--and then complain that she couldn't find good help!
