On the sister site ( ;) you know) we have a few specific threads for posting nothing-much on... but John has a special style of his own here!

Hello, all!

My name is Kaleb--those of you who frequent NarniaWeb probably know who I am. Like the members of this club, I prefer to read the books in publication order. However, I could be described as a "2456317 Moderate": I own multiple sets of the Chronicles, some numbered each way, and I arrange each set of books on the shelf as numbered. ;)

Over at NarniaWeb we have been discussing the renumbering of the books at length. It has become clear that some people who first read the books in chronological order are genuinely convinced that theirs is the better way. They cannot even conceive of reading them in publication order.

This creates a bit of dilemma, because there's this sticky thing called the Golden Rule. We as Publicationists certainly would not want to do anything that hampers the Chronologicists in their ability to enjoy the books, and so an innovative solution must be found.

With this in mind, I hereby propose the following resolution to this dispute, which HarperCollins is free to use without any credit or royalty to me:

Now THAT would make a great tee shirt - this pic on the back, and on the front, "Publication or Chronology?"

That's a great idea Kaleb!

Of course it might totally confuce people who aren't familiar with the CoN who go to read them for the first time... :)
"But if the Witch could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who has committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards." - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

/me still can't believe why this is such a huge thing

Surely people are free to read them in whichever order they choose.

Why the necessity to go on and on and on and on about it ad nauseam?
