Our new theme song!

Postby Carrie » 15 Apr 2005, 17:03

Without further ado, here is our new theme song! (I know, the lyrics are terribly written, but I tried to stick pretty closely to "Jenny (867-5309)", and the lyrics are terrible there as well. I promise, I'm really a better poet than this!)

Published (2456317)

Published order, it’s you we can turn to
You give us something we can hold on to
Other people think that we’re stuck in the past
But it’s far more complicated than that

We all know the best order
We need to make the world see
You shouldn’t change the order

Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven

Published, published, you’re the way for me
We’re not sure why but you make us so happy
We wish they were ordered the way they should be
We rearrange every book from the entire set

We all know the best order
We need to make the world see
You shouldn’t change the order

Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven

We’ve done it (We’ve done it) We’ve done it
We’ve moved all the books around
We’ve done it (We’ve done it) We’ve done it
Now they’re placed the way that they should be

We all know the best order
We need to make the world see
How we love the best order

Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven

Published order it’s you we can turn to
(Two four five six three one seven)
But we have to search on Ebay just to find you
(Two four five six three one seven)

Two four five six three one seven
Two four five six three one seven
Six three one seven

Very good, Carrie! Now, if I could only remember the tune! I wasn't quite old enough in 1981 to know the song really well.

You can listen to a sampling of the original on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000093O/qid=1113585983/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-2452811-0656052
You have to scroll down a bit to the track listing (it's track 12).

I wasn't quite old enough in 1981 to know the song really well.

I wasn't even born until 1983, but I have a strange affinity for 80s music. Oh, and I even tried to sing the new lyrics along with Tommy Tutone, and it worked! Yay!

Okay, I have to admit I'm a bit slow. What are the requirements for this club (except for having the books in the bookshelf in the right oder)?
The lyrics are great!

Well done, Carrie!

Now we just need to get permissions, someone to record it, a band..and we can make our own club CDs to sell and make lots of money!

Maybe then I could afford one of Dr. Zeus' opinions. ;)

The only requirement is that you prefer the original published order of the CoN. That's it. ;)

Thanks for the link. I was 14 in 1983, and I'm a big 80's music fan. I like the "alternative" side of it, however. Bands like The Smiths, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Souxsie and the Banshees, New Order, Joy Division, etc.

So, Friday was our last day of classes at Hope. On the last day of classes Hope always has a big party, which includes free food, inflatable games, and bands. Of course, the band decided to play "Jenny (867-5309)," and all I could think about as they were singing was "2456317" everytime they sang "867-5309." Then the song was on the radio this morning when I woke up. I think it's a sign. Of what I'm not sure...

oh hello ! i'm hope i'm not being rude, I am so pleased that i'm not the only one in the world who takes offense at the new order.

I found this site while looking around for an explanation: my mother says that in the 70's she read something of C.S. Lewis's that said WHY he published the books/wrote the stories in the order he did, that it was an intentional way to introduce children to the theological concepts little by little, and that if he had introduced the books in chronological order it would have taken them into reading matter that was of greater depth too quickly, or something along those lines. I'd love to research his works and find where he said that, so I could bombard the publishers with it! Does anybody here have any idea? Is this something that's been discussed before and I haven't seen it yet, in my newbie rush of enthusiasm to put my first post out there?

P.S. Now I've got that song in my head and it will probably be there all weekend.....

OK, so I'm a bit slow. This is the second time I've looked at this thread, and I only just realized the significance of the numbers. So now that I've caught up with the rest of you, COUNT ME IN! :)

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.
