Pardon the double post, but I've just been back to the same thread to see how the education was coming along and I would like to say that people are STUPID!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry. I feel better now. I won't do that again.

Hi, first time here, though I've been lurking a few weeks. I heard '8675309' in the grocery store the other day and just had to smile, for it reminded me of this post. :)

In the class I taught on Lewis & Tolkien, I encouraged students to read the Chronicles in the original published order for the following reasons:

1. I believe the events in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe establish the importance of the main Character and it sets the tone and is the most natural introduction of both Narnia and Aslan

2. The Magician’s Nephew is much more exciting and interesting as a flashback story. If you’ve already read LWW you already care about Narnia and are deeply interested in its background and creation

3. Prince Caspian is a better follow-up to LWW than Horse and His Boy because PC basically picks up at the end of LWW, where as HHB takes place in the middle of the last chapter of LWW.

4. If you believe that Lewis was inspired by God to write the Chronicles (and I do), then it's probably best to leave them in the order in which they were given to Lewis.
