Not really connected to the thread in terms of time period, but I'll just mention a humourously posed (but seriously intended) reference I made in another thread. Someone mentioned Pascal's Wager and I replied with something like "Don't you mean 'Puddleglum's Wager'?", refering of course to P's "Narnian" speech to the Green Witch.
