Visit to Narnia woollens

Postby carol » November 14th, 2005, 10:25 am

I recently got to talk to the makers of the Stansborough Fibres, who are most famous for their Elven cloaks for LOTR. Their wools are a mix of Swedish sheep and alpacas, making beautiful soft fibres.

For LWW they made scarves (Tumnus, Centaurs), sashes (for satyrs), tunics (dwarfs, Edmund, lead Centaur Orieus), and cloaks (Susan and Lucy). Susan's cloak is a soft grey with a braid edging in gold, and Lucy's is red with a finer gold traced pattern (also braid sewn on, I think). The kind owners invited me to try on Lucy's cloak. How do I look?

You can find out more about these by clicking "costume site" on the Narniaweb menu.

That's a good look, Carol. You should wear that all the time :)

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

"What are you laughing at?"
"At myself. My little puny self," said Phillipa.

I really did like it! I now think I can improvise one to wear to the opening screening here at my local cinema.

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle
