Strangely, my "Unified Grand Heresy" has more of a Fantasy touch to it than Science Fiction, as would be apparent if I were ever to have the nerve to collate it into a single (though large) scribbilings.
To return to the question of the sewing machine and mechanics, there is actually a parralel in Prince Caspian.
At the end of that book, Edmund is somewhat aggreived, because he realises that he left his tourch behind.
If it had ever been written in a book that came "after PC" but was written before "PC" (sorry if thats confusing.. i.e. non-chronological order), would it have been assumed that narnia had developed the physical science to make such a device?
Personally, one of the reasons behind my "Grand Unified Heresy" is that the idea that there is a "causality" in the form of the Royal House of Charn" continuing, and being instrumental in repairing the damage done by one of the members of that line appeals to me.
Call yourself a dog???? I've seen better hair on a lavatory brush!!!
