Previous Chronicles of Narnia Movie

Postby Kathi » January 8th, 2006, 8:38 pm

Hello, My daughter said that her teacher showed her a Chronicles of Narnia movie in class last year - does anyone know of a previous movie? she said is was in colour and half animated. Any help on the title etc would be very helpful ( she said it was the Lion the witch and the wardrobe)

thanks!

Welcome, Kathi!

You can get it at Amazon, just click on our 'bookstore' link up above. It was done by the BBC, and there are three movies, LWW, Prince Caspian & the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair. You can get the set, or seperate.
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

But then they WERE made in the late 80s. That's before the CG animation (seen in Toy Story) so there were going to be limitations.
The three TV serials (in half-hour episodes) are close to the book's actual words, so they are very different from the way the new film has been produced.

Yes, true. But Neverending Story was made in the early 80s and that looked much more believable. A bigger budget (even without CGI in those days) did have the potential for better results.

I'm renting the series. The descriptions I have seen didn't encourage me to purchase them, but I'd like to see them at least once.

The production values are what they are, but I have a bit of a soft spot for those BBC Narnia series. They had their heart in the right place.

Also, Tom Baker was a good Puddleglum in The silver chair.

Today I went to IKEA and hid in the wardrobes, and every time someone opened the doors I welcomed them to Narnia!!

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle
