I don't know the exact wording used in the Moon of Gomrath, but..

When the boy makes the remark about a machine gun being better than a sword, before the house is attacked, the Dwarves response is very similar.

Something alont the lines of it being "unclean", as one can not see the consequences and ramifications when the killing is done from afar.

I really really need to get on with the sorting & reorganisation, so I can unbox things
