Yes, that's a good idea about the neglection, it would also fit to Lewis' time and him beeing fond of allegories ...

I also thought of the backward connection of the London-tree to the protecting tree of Narnia. That bears some problems ... it would mean, Narnia would not have fallen if Digory were not allowed to take an apple for his mother (another sacrifice by Aslan?) (and - what if he had immediately destroyed the core!) ... but at once it is an allegory that one gets more vulnerable by having children (or, in general, by giving part of oneself away)

The sleeping of Father Time didn't occur to me! Of course! ...

Jadis did not know anything about the pool, her mind was of that kind that she could not remember such a quiet place (as is seen and stated by Lewis in London in the battle of the lamp post). Also I do not think that there were known means of travelling between Worlds in Charn, the Queen seems to be surprised. (so, well, probably she has heard of the Telmarines ... )
"Where will wants not, a way opens, so we say," he whispered; "and so I have found myself".

"Where there's a whip there's a will, my slugs. Hold up!"
