What a wild concidence, as I just returned from Turkey myself!
I had to say "kochuk aslan" to refer to my daughter's little toy lion.
in Russian, the Caspian Sea is "Kah-SPEE-skuh-yeh MORE-yeh", so I wouldn't say that "Khazar" dominates.
Turkish Delight, aka lokum, is still a major tourist sales item (maybe Narnia has had something to do with that?).
