For what its worth, I have four ear piercings, although I usually only wear one or two. My comment was merely tongue-in-cheek. ;)

I beg your pardon? Did you say that you have four piercings, including tongue and cheek? Ugh, yukky, yuk, John!!!

:toothy-grin:

If you felt like dragging yourself to the News page on Narniaweb, you could find out that the Telmarines are being cast as sort of Mediterranean looking, pirates from Mediterranean countries + South Sea Island women having produced reasonably tanned people.... Apparently the casting search for Caspian included non-English countries, but I'd expect the actor to need to be a good English speaker.
This leaves room for the Calormenes to be darker skinned still.

Something to do with the Narnian sun? Their pale English skin had to adapt quickly to the stronger southern sun of Calormen. Remembering how the magical young earth of Narnia was still causing things to grow at an amazing rate, perhaps there was also something in the air and soil and water that allowed these physical adjustments to happen faster.
(Lewis didn't work out all the details... he just told stories!)

Oooh, hadn't thought of the pirate connection. I hope they don't cast Orlando Bloom.

They wouldn't. Would they? :undecided:

Wasn't it 100 years? I have always thought it was. :??:

But yes, The children riding talking Horses unnecessarily (not to mention the Unicorn) goes right against Narnian traditions. It is unthinkable, like eating a Talking Beast. Well maybe not THAT bad...

If Lewis thought there were inconsistencies, who are we to argue? But I bet he never imagined that the great Heretic himself would turn his attention to Narnia to address the interesting -- er -- quirks, shall we call them?
