Prince Caspian filming? (A QUICK QUESTION)

Please don't close the door behind you.

Postby Erekose » February 15th, 2007, 10:03 am

I tend to be on the pessimist side of the discussion (its the way I is)... but...

Things could be worse...

Three excellent books made into films...

The Bicentenial Man

I, Robot (well technically a collection of short stories with similar themes and sharfed characters)

Damnation Alley

Now.. image the CoN films being made with the same "loyalty" to the books

I am wondering how the movie-makers will choose to handle the events that take place before the children meet Prince Caspian. For example, should they start with the kids, have them go to Narnia and find Trumpkin and then flash back to what has been happening in Narnia (as the book does); or should the movie follow the events in Narnia up until the horn is blown and then switch to the kids in our world. What do you guys think?
"But if the Witch could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who has committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards." - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

I had a little think about this.. and my thoughts sort of paralled the old publish vs chronological order, and the way in which the existance and mystery of the lampost supports published order.

Showing the children being drawn into Narnia, and then having the flashback, allows for the "Ahhh so the Horn did it!" element.

You may be interested to catch up with the latest snippets on Narniaweb - filming is now under way in eastern Europe.

There's also a recent interview with Doug Gresham by a Christian radio announcer in NZ.

There are one or two wee bits of news on Prince Caspian.

1. There'll be a bit of footage shown at the upcoming Comic-con in Sth California.
2. There are photos of Beruna Bridge.
3. It's Georgie's 12th birthday - 9th July.

More info on .

What do you think of the bridge?

There is not going to be any flirting. No more than the impression a nice young man of 16/17 makes on a girl of 14. Of course she wants to impress him. In the book he was 13/14 while she was 13, which is less interesting, and she also had less interaction with him than we are expecting to see in this film.

As for mangling... that's a very emotive word and a subjective notion. I know there are some very fine people producing this film (not Disney!) and I trust them.

But yes, do expect to see changes, simply because the content of a book does not become a large film simply by acting out each page.

You may find the information on Narniaweb's news page useful.
