Posting this here because of the Narnia connection-- Peter Chattaway's interview with Katherine Patterson at christianitytoday.com:

"In the book, Leslie knows Narnia and lends the Narnia books to Jess, and yet she seems unaware of the Christian elements there. Because when she goes to church and hears the story of Christ, it is completely new to her.

Paterson: Right. (laughs) That happens all the time with kids who've read Narnia who have no Christian background whatsoever."

Thanks for that link! That is very interesting.
I read the book online very quickly last year, after hearing about the plan to film it, and I probably missed a lot of its value. But I'd seen it in the library here in NZ, so it must be well-read here too.
I'm very interested to see the film.
