Because Prince Caspian is the next book in the correct order . Also the Pevensies are grown in HHB, so they would either have to use different actors or wait until the kids are grown in order to film.

First off, Prince Caspian is actually the 2nd book. I don't care what HarperCollins says. PC was written second. The books were re-numbered in the early 90s.

Here is the order Lewis originally published them in the 50s:
LWW, PC, VDT, SC, HHB, MN, LB

Here is the order they are now listed as (chronologically):
MN, LWW, HHB, PC, VDT, SC, LB

But, the main reason they are shooting PC next is because they have to shoot the movies before the actors get too old. So they have to shoot PC, VDT, and SC consecutivley. After that....we'll see what they do.

I hope they eventually make a movie of HHB, although it is doubtful for reasons already mentioned in this thread. It is one of my favorites from the Chronicles because it has a wonderful story, and it also has the ability to stand alone. Both LWW and HHB could be read alone and are still excellent. The rest of the books really require being read in order (whether chronological or published order).

I think that HHB will transfer to film very easily. It is possibly the most adventurous of the stories and the one with the most "political intrigue". Walden Media does plan to make all 7, so long as each film continues to do well.

Dan, that's good to hear. I wonder how the filmmakers will portray the Calormenes. I know there has been criticism of both Lewis and Tolkien for their protrayal of the "bad guys" as people from the Middle East.

Fortunately that is neither how Lewis wrote them (more as Arabian nights type characters), nor the way that the production is likely to portray them. (watch this space - no, watch the movies!)
