I never saw Star Trek as being hostile to Christianity. True, it is pagan, but except for a few comments by Spock such as "There was no deity involved in my use of the transporter" or "I do not believe in angels" nothing negative was said about religious values. And of course, those were Spock's views, not necessarily Roddenberry's. I don't think paganism and Christianity are always enemies, and probably C. S. Lewis would have agreed. Can't a person love pagan mythology for its sense of fair play as Lewis did? To better the human condition man has do something since he knows the difference between good and evil. If a pagan encourages you to have good morals it is a good thing-- even if he does it without encouraging you to become a Christian it is still God accomplishing it. Star Trek had both its heroes and villains, and it teaches us some important moral lessons about good and evil without being religious-- a positive achievement.
