LWW will be on Blu-Ray Disc in May, just in time for the PC movie.

Anyone have a BR player? I'm planning on getting one soon now that they've finally won the war.

Blu-Ray...geez...I've just started recollecting DVDs after returning from living abroad. I don't even own a HDTV...and I think the quality I currently have is just dandy.

Yeah, I can never see the difference between regular TV and HDTV or Blu-Ray. Looks the same to me. *shrugs*

Well, I've only seen "demonstrations" at a store and they definitely look quite impressively sharper and "clean". I have been pretty impressed by what I've seen, and if I could upgrade not only the player, but all the movies I had at no or little cost, I might consider it. But for me it is not worth the cost of what it would actually take, not to mention that a lot of old stuff simply won't be available for a long time if ever, and I don't know if the impressive things I've seen are generally true, or that they've only shown examples that really highlight the technology and that most things wouldn't really look that much better in the translation.

In effect, too many unknowns and too much cost for the amount of potential benefit.

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

I wonder if you would notice much of a difference on a smaller screen. I don't want a TV with a huge screen taking up so much space in my living room. All of my DVD's are just regular ones so there doesn't seem to be much point in getting a huge TV.
