Lewis Quotes

Postby Jack-fan » May 15th, 2006, 10:52 pm

Hey I'm working on a paper and would like to put in some really sweet quotes from Mr. Lewis... but I can't seem to find any other than the daily quoteon this site.

Could anyone point me in the direction of more or even share some of your favorites?

Thanks! :)

Surely the quotes would have to do with the subject matter of the paper - you don't want random quotes, do you?

Which of Lewis' works have you read?
"What are you laughing at?"
"At myself. My little puny self," said Phillipa.

The problem is, that most of the quotes are entirely without references. I have a quote on tyranny that would round off an essay I'm working on perfectly, but I can't seem to find its source. I've searched the web, nothing came up. The best I could come up with was that it came from God in the Dock, so I bought the book, read it, and still cannot find a source for this quote. Does anyone know of a Lewis site that contains referenced quotations?

There is someone here who is astonishingly good at referencing quotes. If you post the quote, he (or someone else) may be able to identify it for you. :)

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.
