Help create a community database of all Narnia content

Postby NarniaInsider » November 3rd, 2005, 7:20 am

Hi all,

I recently went to re-read The Chronicles of Narnia (have to prepare for the new movies, you know!), and it struck me that it would be really handy to have a complete database of information about Narnia.

I know that the Wikipedia is really useful, so I decided to create a Narnia wiki encyclopedia. Only a few people are working on it so far, but I think that it will grow fast and be very cool when close to completion.

The heart of it is a chapter-by-chapter summary of all the books, including all the people, places, and major actions, all cross-linked to encyclopedia-type entries.

We're also adding sections on the people, themes, quotes, and so on.

If you're interested, you can visit the site at:

The password, if you want to make edits or add your own content, is "letusrule".

Let me know what you think!

I hate to pour cold water on your project, but ..... there are copious Narnia websites already, including a number which do exactly that. A few months ago a new project of this sort was begun. You may find it if you search the archives here, or on Narniaweb.com's archives, (can't recall which site I saw the invitation on).

Have you cleared the use of copyrighted material (pictures, etc) with the C.S.Lewis estate? I know of one website that closed down after it was required to remove illegally used pictures.

I am inclined to suggest that people go to one of several excellent guidebooks such as Paul Forde's "Companion to Narnia", Brian Sibley's book, or Colin Duriez's "A Field Guide to Narnia".

Best wishes, whatever you decide to do.
