Who should be ordained?

re: Who should be ordained?

Hi Jesse,

I'm quite happy for certain people to be given certain jobs. I don't doubt that declaring the forgiveness of sins is sacramental. But you can declare my sins forgiven in Christ's name as well as any presbyter. God's Spirit is within you, you have his Word, and you have his command to preach forgiveness.

On a (sort of) related topic, it dawned on me last night that the glory of the Church is not a Pope, a pieta or a parade, but a saint. The church is there to foster them. If the glory of God is a man fully alive, this is the glory of the Church also. The command 'feed my sheep' is best understood when we remember that Jesus was also a lamb. 'Feed my sheep' means 'nourish little Christs'. The church hierarchy etc is (or ought to be) completely subservient (the servant) to this great task.

Profound Thought Alert.

Perhaps the Church to the saint is the placenta to the baby.
“And turn their grief into song?" he replied. "That would be a gracious act and a good beginning."

Allan,

I liked your profound thought. A lot. I'm a sucker for good metaphors, you know. I like your writings in the other forum too. When are you posting the next chapter?

You have got to read this book that I'm am just finishing up. It could have been written for you and what you just said in your last few posts. It's called I don't normally go for the holistic stuff, but this was a good one and there were things in there that made me think of things you've posted. [I'll be having to read it five or six times to get it. You guys here would probably get it on the first read. ]

I'll try to see if I can pull some of the quotes that reminded me of what you said.

You must read this.
