I know this is a bit OT, but this thread reminded me of an old Jewish joke I always liked:
A rabbi is lecturing a few students about the goodness of God and illustrates with a story.
A poor woodcutter's wife, he says, had just died, leaving him alone with their baby. They were alone in the cabin and he was so broke he could not even afford to buy milk. Desperate, he kneeled down and prayed for aid.
God took pity on the poor man and miraculously gave him a pair of breasts, so that he could nurse the infant.
"But," objects one student, "why such a showy miracle? Couldn't God simply have given the poor man some money so he could hire a nurse to feed the baby?"
"Don't be silly," says the rabbi. "Why should the Lord be throwing out money when he could get the job done for free with a miracle?"

“First they came for Abdul Rahman and I spoke out because I was a Muslim. Then they came for the Palestinians and I raised hell because I was a Jew. Then they came for the Iraqis and I protested because I was an American. Then they came for the Muslims and I spoke out because I was a Christian, Then they came for the poor and I spoke out because I was rich. By the time they came for me, I had all the support a man could ask for.”
