Postby oyo » January 15th, 2006, 6:07 am

How is this pronounced, with a short 'i' or a long 'i'? is the stress on the first syllable?

perhaps someone more british than me could help out.

Well, I'm not "more British" but it's pronounced with a short i and the accent on the first syllable.

Personally I pronounce is Digory..

That is to say.. Dig (as in to dig a hole).. or as in.. erm or.. and y as in ee (by gum)

But then around we here we tend to pronounce Shrewsbury the way its spelt rather than with marbles in our mouths so whom am I to say? :)
Call yourself a dog???? I've seen better hair on a lavatory brush!!!

People flock in, nevertheless, in search of answers to those questions only librarians are considered to be able to answer, such as "Is this the laundry?" "How do you spell surreptitious?" and, on a regular basis, "Do you have a book I remember reading once? It had a red cover and it turned out they were twins." ~Terry Pratchett, about libraries
And we shall reach zero at some point. :)

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle
