Lewis made the changes himself when an American edition came out.
Check out Paul Ford's Companion to Narnia and I believe all the changes are listed there.
Most people like the British version much better, and it's the easiest to find now. You won't see the old American editions much.
I'm not sure why those changes were thought necessary. The only one I like is where the Dark Island disappears in VDT.
You can tell which edition you have by looking to see what Maugrim's name is in LWW. If it's Fenris Ulf, then you have the American edition. If it's Maugrim, then it's the original British.

p.s. There are alot of old threads on this subject. You could look them up for more info. and opinions.

Do you know which edition (American or British) was the movie made after?

The British version, trycal0204. You can tell by the name of the wolf captain.

Nice new avatar, Calliope Queen. How long before he gets cut down by the knight for threatening to give away plot spoilers? :)
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

I have the anniversary edition with color versions of Baynes' illustrations...and I think they are the British text versions, but I'm not positive. Anyone know?

Wood-maid, it's been suggested here that you can find out by looking at the name of the Wolf who is the Witch's Chief of Police. If his name is Maugrim, it will be a British Edition. If it is Fenris Ulf, American.

Is Maugrim's name change the only difference. Is there any differences in wording?

This year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practise ourselves the kind of behaviour we expect from other people.
