This is a map by one of my favorite fantasy artists, Tim Kirk from a
Mythlore magazine way back in 1970. It's always been hard for me to "see" the layout of things and places described in books, and particularly so in THS, so I found this map helpful (not to mention just fun to look at):
(edited to show bigger image. Thanks Dunrobin, for helping me post this larger image. By the way, it is not even yet "full size" -- I just made it 1000 pixels wide as a compromise for space and displaying on this forum. If anyone would like a "full size" image, I can try to rescan it at the 8-1/2x11 inch size of the original in my magazine. By the way Tim Kirk did an equally wonderful Narnia map although it is larger -- about twice the size that I also have)

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.
